Beautiful silver verge oignon watch from 1720s, French Regency period.
Diameter is 52mm, height without bow is 65 mm
Made in very definite Regency style.
Movement is very nicely finished - it features silver rim around the top plate, silver verge counterpivot, fancy shaped baroque balance bridge, baluster pillars, deeply blued springs and screws.
Very unusually, escapement wheel is also made of silver. It looks very nice.
The archaical repeating complication strikes with single hammer to silver bell.
Watch case is equipped with button with prevents the watch from striking.
According classical book "La Montre Française" by Chapiro, such Regency watches are quite rare, because they were producing in relatively short period, from 1720 to 1730.
Condition
Watch appears to be in nice condition.
The movement functions in any position, though I don't guarantee time keeping.
The repeating functions as it should.
Case is well preserved.
The dial is generally ok, with minor flaws on the very bottom.
Original hands, mineral crystal.
