Beautiful quarter repeating pocket watch with Jaquemarts automaton.
Diameter is 53mm, weight is 131 grams.
The watch is luxury executed and is probably intended for South American market.
It comes in heavy and richly engraved 18k gold hunter case.
The dial is made of solid silver and is very decorative.
Movement is based on LeCoultre ebauche and comes with most expensive finishing.
It's nickel made, fully jewelled up to the hammers of repetition with nice screwed chatons.
Even the winding wheels combine mat and mirror polishing with nice golden accents.
Hoff & Fils was a company from La Chaux De Fonds, Switzerland and seems was mostly active on American and Eastern markets.
The watch by Hoff & Fils for Ottoman market, with very similar Putty Jaquemarts automaton was presented on Antiquorum sale of November 2008, (lot 485, estimate $12000 - $15000).
Condition
The watch appears to be in very good condition. Movement is in running condition, though I don't guarantee time keeping.
Automaton is working as it should and repetition is striking correctly. Dial is in very good condition, with minor wear. Case is in very good condition, with very moderate wear.
