Nice and very rare captain's watch by Girard Perregaux.
Made for American market, circa 1860s.
Diameter is 49mm, weight is 91 grams.
The watch dates back to the very first period of Girard Perregaux manufacture, circa 1860s. The "prestigious" London signature from time while company wasn't known world-wide.
This "Marine Recorder" watch features rare triple time-zone complication, purposed for sailing as you can see from "Ship time", "East time" and "West time" indications.
The watch bears serial number 36664 on the dial and case.
According to my knowledge, only one similar watch by GP is know, numbered 36665, it belongs to Girard Perregaux manufactory museum, which will unlikely part it..
The watch is very nice piece, beautifully finished.
Please note diamond endstone, nice regulator engraving with Hare and Snail.
All covers bears hallmarks for 18k gold as well as Swiss Neuchatel chevron hallmark.
Condition
The watch appears to be in good condition.
The movement is in running condition, time zone indication works as it should.
Dial feature single small hairline, hard to show.
Cosmetically watch is quite fine, with minor wear to the case.
Overall good condition.
Nice watch, don't miss it.
