JACQUEMARTS AUTOMATON Quarter REPEATER VERGE FUSEE Antique Pocket Watch

Beautiful and rather big pocket verge watch in golden case.
Diameter is 58mm, height without bow is 72mm. Weight is hefty 140 grams.
Watch features "Punchinello and the father Time" scene.
The chiselled varicoloured gold scene shows two cherubs Jacquemarts (Jacks) striking the elapsed time, and, upper, on a balcony an automaton scene where Punchinello appears to strike the hour on the scythe of Father Time.
Dial and movement are signed by Jules Robert in Chaux de Fonds.
According Baille, J. Robert et Fils is known since 1787.
The company was closely associated with Courvoisier & Cie, also signed some watches by Robert & Courvoisier. Baillie also mentions watch signed as Robert & Courvoisier - La Chaux de Fonds and Robert & Courvoisier Paris about 1805.
Company was active on the Chinese market - Tardy in the "La Montre Chinoise" mentions that Jules Robert sent two representatives in Canton in 1838.
The watch is production of late XVIII / early XIX century.
It comes in solid 18k gold case, dust cover is gilt metal.
Back cover bears Neuchatel hallmark.
Dust cover bears serial number and mentions "Echappement horizontal", standing for "horizontal escapement". Watch is equipped with common verge escapement, it should be some kind of Swiss marketing from early XIX century.
Condition
Full plate verge fusee movement is in working condition, though I don't guarantee time keeping.
The repeating and automaton are working as it should.
Dial is in rather good condition, with minor reparation to the sides where it's screwed to plate.
Case is in common period condition with minor wear.
Overall very nice condition.
