Beautiful 1/4 repeating pocket watch.
Diameter is 40mm, height is 51mm. Weight is 52 grams.
Watch came in solid 18k gold case and is decorated by miniature painting over opaque background, depicting antique scene.
Enamel is beautifully preserved, painting is free from reparations.
Watch is equipped with repeating "a-toc", silently striking to the case.
Watch is signed by Friedel in Strasbourg.
Strasbourg is capital of Alsace area in France, which kept strong German influence.
C. Friedel is mentioned by both Tardy in "Dictionnary of French Watchmakers" and by Abeler in the same book on German Watchmakers.
Friedel was active in 1820s, and author of enamel decorated watches in Empire taste.
Condition
The watch appears to be in very good condition.
Cosmetic condition is quite rare, very nice.
Technically the watch is capable of running.
Repeating "a toc" functions as it should.
Dial is good condition. It's painted with "Breguet" arabic numbers in the taste of early XIX century, Breguet hands.
